On the shelves of pharmacies and parapharmacies, neighborhood convenience stores, sex shops and love stores, it is not easy to differentiate between so-called "natural", "organic", "synthetic" cosmetics and all those derived from petrochemicals. . It is also almost mission impossible since many intimate lubricants contain glycerin which can be a natural ingredient, organic but just as well from petroleum derivatives.

Within YESforLOV, our laboratories located in France are committed to offering you different formulas that integrate all the benefits that nature puts at our fingertips, on land and at sea, and this, under the rigorous, demanding leadership of state-of-the-art French technology and 17 years of know-how in full compliance with increasingly demanding national regulations. Let's go for an article full of transparency, advice and key information on the art of choosing the right cosmetics for pleasure!

Organic cosmetics: what does the standard say?

As you have understood, recognizing a natural cosmetic is not easy. More and more " greenwashing ", inconsistency in the reading of labels silently manipulate your desires to buy. The label by law in force is the primary source of information, but this is not always the case. In France, a cosmetic that claims to be “natural” is a cosmetic that contains at least 95% ingredients of natural origin . This is the percentage imposed in the name of the product for it to be recognized as “natural”. The information boundary is fragile: however, it is not because the product does not necessarily indicate the natural word that it is not and vice versa. This is the case of our moisturizing mixed lubricant which contains more than 99% of ingredients of natural origin.

Did you know ? Water is, by its original quality, a natural ingredient present in very large proportions and especially in intimate lubricants (more than 70%), so it is difficult to judge the relevance of this allegation of "natural" .

At YESforLOV, we also take care and in this same approach, that our line of cosmetics based on organic and natural ingredients recognizable by their kraft paper packaging does not contain any controversial ingredients. The list of controversial ingredients is beyond our control. We follow very carefully the various organic labels orchestrating this slow cosmetics approach which blocks silicones, PEGs or PPGs, irritating surfactants, sulphates, preservatives and endocrine disruptors such as phenoxyethanol and parabens . Within the YESforLOV collective, we follow the specifications to the letter and we even go further than this simple percentage of natural ingredients provided for by the regulations: we automatically exclude many ingredients, such as phenoxyethanol in our intimate lubricants for example, even if its dangerousness depends solely on its concentration, its primary function being to preserve product quality and guarantee consumer safety by opposing the proliferation of microbes.

It is therefore just as complicated to consume well as to develop quality products that combine comfort, sensuality, naturalness and effectiveness . Unlike labels dedicated to natural and organic cosmetics, the current standard does not prohibit any ingredient , it just gives definitions and calculations to display the percentage of natural or organic ingredients present in a given product. We could conclude that an unlabeled so-called natural product can therefore also contain controversial substances and be more harmful to health than a less natural but roughly well-formulated product.

Organic cosmetics or natural cosmetics: how to distinguish them?

Are you a passionate lover of organic products? Do you want to buy organic cosmetics? Are you concerned about what you apply to your skin and mucous membranes, just like what you put on your plate? But what is the difference between conventional cosmetics and organic cosmetics? Are organic intimate care and hygiene products as effective? What more do they bring? Today nearly 75% of French people have already used organic cosmetics during their lifetime, but it is not always easy to distinguish between these two notions: organic and natural. To get your bearings, there are organic beauty labels. In France, the easiest way is to refer to the Ecocert/Cosmébio label which imposes percentages in the composition of an organic cosmetic, namely:

  • At least 95% ingredients of natural origin throughout the product.
  • At least 95% organic ingredients among those that can be organic
  • At least 20% organic ingredients in the finished product.

It is important to note that water or minerals are not considered organic because they are not from agriculture. Since water is a major component of many cosmetic formulas, this involves diluting the proportion of organic ingredients to the total product. Only a cosmetic that does not contain water like a massage oil can display up to 100% organic ingredients . For the others qualified as aqueous base, it is impossible.

Legally, for a cosmetic to claim to be organic, manufacturers have two choices:

  • The easiest way is to refer to a label like that of COSMOS .
  • The second is to formulate cosmetic products that contain 100% organic ingredients or raw materials . In this case, the claim “organic” may appear to designate the product as a whole.

If, on the contrary, the overall rate in the product of these organic ingredients or raw materials is less than 100%, it cannot be claimed as organic . The term "organic" must only appear next to the ingredient(s) concerned , so that the consumer cannot think that the whole product is "organic", when this is not the case.

The answer is no, but the explanation is simple: oils are not compatible with condoms and this is the precise reason why we have never developed a 100% organic lubricant.

However, you will find in our range of organic and natural cosmetics , an intimate lubricant with organic Aloe Vera which contains 96% of ingredients of organic origin excluding water, a vaginal moisturizing gel based on organic algae which contains 66.6% ingredients of organic origin excluding water and a CBD concentrate formulated with 63.20% ingredients of organic origin excluding water.

What are the restrictions on ingredients of animal origin in organic products?

Did you know ? A product that claims to be organic is not always vegan because certain agro-ingredients of animal origin are authorized by organic labels, which is the case for honey for example. The rules on this are quite simple: all ingredients of animal origin are allowed if they are not part of that animal or if they have been obtained through an authorized physical process that does not result in death. of the animal concerned . All other ingredients are therefore prohibited. A quick reminder, cosmetics are no longer supposed to be tested on animals in Europe since 2013 . YESforLOV does not perform any animal testing to prove the harmlessness of its products. We much prefer to evaluate the tolerance of our intimate gels and cosmetics on reconstituted mucous membranes through an in vitro test .

Why choose healthy, organic and respectful products for your body?

Are you still hesitating to go natural in your bathroom or bedroom? Here we give you some good reasons to go organic and forget about your conventional beauty products for good. Consuming natural or organic products means:

Say NO to toxic products . Say goodbye to carcinogenic compounds and endocrine disruptors. Organic cosmetics means taking no risks that could compromise the health and well-being of your mucous membranes. You are what you consume . Clean cosmetics are there for your intimate well-being. At YESforLOV, we believe that anyone who uses an intimate gel should be sure that their moisturizing lubricant does not contain endocrine disruptors or allergenic ingredients, that their lubricant will not cause fungus or irritation. Note that in organic cosmetics, preservatives are reduced and limited, so your cosmetic may have a lower PAO than traditional cosmetics. At YESforLOV, products containing organic ingredients have an optimal opening period of 6 months . To learn more about the conservation of cosmetics , it's here .

Say YES to ecology . Organic cosmetics often rhyme with ecology and the environment. Unlike traditional cosmetics, organic cosmetics have production methods that are designed to be as harmonious as possible with nature . The manufacturing processes aim to limit the production of waste . Packaging from sustainably managed forests is meticulously crafted to be easily recyclable and made up of elements from recycling .

Take care of your mucous membranes on a daily basis. The products we use every day pass through our bloodstream and can affect hormonal function, and therefore our libido: the ability to produce sperm and ovulate, menstruation, menopause, etc. We must not forget that our skin absorbs everything! It is therefore important to be particularly attentive and vigilant with regard to the composition of the products used. Because, as much to say it, certain harmful ingredients penetrate into our organism and even more easily through the mucous membrane which corresponds to the layer of semi-permeable and humid tissues constituting the coating of the vagina, the glans penis, the clitoris and the penis. many other parts of the body. Unlike the epidermis, the mucous membranes do not have what is called the stratum corneum : a natural filtration layer that acts as a barrier to protect the skin against attacks. Consequently, the epithelial cells that make up the mucous membranes are more permeable, fragile and sensitive to chemical attacks from irritants or even estrogen imitators that certain lubricant formulas may contain.

Have fun responsibly. Who said that organic cosmetics were not pleasant to use? No more fragrances and textures that leave something to be desired: the YESforLOV ORGANIC erotic cosmetics range offers you natural beauty products with pleasant smells and textures, and refined packaging. Whether it's our CBD concentrate, our intimate lubricants with organic Aloe Vera or our regenerating cream for the V, our cosmetics based on organic ingredients are more and more glamorous and efficient! At YESforLOV, we try to make organic cosmetics and pleasure rhyme by offering you sensory and effective care in biodegradable and recyclable bottles that you will proudly display in your bathroom.

How to choose healthy, organic and respectful products for your body?

Trust the label and a hint of the ISO 16218 standard. The ISO standard is the only legal framework for erotic cosmetics. At the end of 2017, the ISO 16 128 standard relating to the definition of natural and organic cosmetics was definitively adopted. This guideline relating to the technical definitions and criteria applicable to natural and organic cosmetic ingredients and products is necessary to provide a framework for cosmetic regulations. The ISO 16128-2:2017 standard describes the methods for calculating the Natural, Natural Origin, Organic and Organic Origin Indexes based on the characteristics of the ingredients. At YESforLOV, it is the only legal calculation method used for us to claim the % of ingredients of natural and organic origin. However, be careful because products containing chemical and polluting ingredients can legally claim to be organic. Parabens, silicones or even derivatives of dead animals are examples of controversial ingredients but tolerated by this new standard.

Talk to the brand, our product manager is on hand. At YESforLOV, we take care to answer all your questions just as we take care to meet information needs hitherto ignored by traditional cosmetics. Do you want to know why we used this or that ingredient? Our product manager in direct contact with our formulators is there to answer you. So, come and question us, challenge us and give, without complex, your opinion on our creations. We are happy to show you behind the scenes of our product developments so that you can help us extend the field of intimate care and eroticism according to a quality requirement never before achieved in this field. Together, our mission is to develop cosmetology of excellence at the service of the act of love.

Look at the ingredient list and rely on Yuka-like applications. To really be sure of the quality of a product and its composition, there is no magic formula, you have to read the list of ingredients and understand it! This is a minimum in the world we live in today. To read it, nothing could be simpler, the ingredients are listed in order of concentration. You can also scan it and discover much more information with Yuka -type applications. This is a responsible first step but can be distorted for two reasons:

  • Some ingredients are very poorly rated : for example silicone, while it is hypoallergenic, considered in some formulas to be the ultimate active ingredient. Do you love this asset? Find here our range of 100% silicone lubricants available in 3 consistencies. It is important to mention that silicone is only criticized for not being biodegradable.
  • In the same way, in certain formulas, certain preservatives are sometimes more effective than others and it is difficult to judge the relevance of the notation given that the % is unknown. In our laboratory, each active ingredient used is scrupulously studied, its naturalness, its quality, its country of origin, its method of extraction, and validated only if it manages to prove its effectiveness.

What healthy ingredients should be part of the composition of our intimate health products ? We recommend a maximum of pure and natural products whose beneficial effects on the mucous membranes have been demonstrated:

  • Aloe Vera : for its moisturizing, healing and soothing properties. However, beware of allergies.
  • CBD : effective against all forms of intimate discomfort (vaginal dryness, heated mucous membranes, vulvar irritation, microlesions)
  • Natural xanthan, carob or guar gums: natural gums whose bio-adhesive properties provide incredible glide.
  • Carrageenan : An algae with recognized emollient and moisturizing properties in addition to HPV inhibiting characteristics that remain to be proven.
  • Vegetable glycerin (in respectable percentages and of vegetable origin) can be a great moisturizer but can also be harmful in too large quantities if we refer to the " principle of osmolarity ". It is also known to feed candida and lead to mycotic episodes.

What are the ingredients to avoid? Petroleum derivatives such as paraffin, mineral oils, etc. are avoided. which would tend to clog the skin and mucous membranes and whose potentially moisturizing effects are only due to their strong occlusive power. We also avoid parabens such as methylparaben, ethylparaben or propylparaben which act as estrogen mimics. According to clinical trials, they would be linked to the development of breast cancer and their endocrine disrupting effects no longer need to be demonstrated.

“Organic” labels and intimate cosmetics: YESforLOV moves heaven and earth but without success

In our organic and natural cosmetics certification process, many labels have been formed with the aim of defining common minimum requirements, harmonizing the rules for manufacturing and certifying so-called organic and natural cosmetics. Faced with the proliferation of these labels in organic cosmetics, a new label on a European scale appeared in 2017: COSMOS . This label was developed by five organizations: COSMEBIO and ECOCERT in France, BDIH in Germany, ICEA in Italy and SOIL ASSOCIATION in the United Kingdom.

With the ambition of offering you products dedicated to intimate and sexual well-being of high quality, preserving both your health and the environment, YESforLOV has recently undertaken this ambitious approach which it considers justified and has therefore made contact in mainland France with the competent bodies responsible for the COSMOS certification which guarantees:

  • Formulation processes that respect the environment and human health.
  • Responsible use of natural resources .
  • Respect for biodiversity .
  • The absence of petrochemical ingredients (excluding authorized preservatives) and GMOs.
  • Recyclable and responsible packaging.

Unfortunately, the classification of hygiene and intimate pleasure products specific to YESforLOV such as intimate lubricating gels for the vagina or anal or its sexual stimulants for the clitoris and the G-spot are not considered cosmetics . A cosmetic product remains by law a non-medicinal preparation intended for body care, personal hygiene, beauty, to beautify the skin or to perfume it . Consequently, it is strictly impossible to have this type of product certified by approved French bodies. Have you seen COSMOS-certified lubricants? We too... some come from our English-speaking neighbors and it's almost amusing to see that it's the same COSMOS label but with references that have different rules and much more flexible and much more protectionist ways of proceeding than in France. . Are you sure it's a French brand? It is quite possible but are these manufacturers really within their rights? Here is the response from the ECOCERT teams.

"Please accept our apologies for the delay in responding. We have forwarded your request to our quality department as well as to our technical department, which are still investigating a possible abusive reference from the competing companies mentioned. We also always study internally the technical part specific to the products you wish to market. Ecocert is not the only actor within Cosmos."

As a result, the veil is gradually being lifted and we are firmly counting on ongoing investigations and future checks so that the entire YESforLOV range really lives under the "COSMOS" label. While waiting for much better days of quality in terms of legislation and controls, we are doing our best to satisfy you in compliance with the existing rules and this reference system which seems to us a priori the most topical but which remains, in our eyes. , very insufficient in his open-mindedness.

Our “green sex” approach in this transition from conventional to organic

So, organic or natural? At YESforLOV, we are focusing on organic cosmetics: you have understood that it is our green, slow and responsible approach that matters the most to us, for the greatest comfort of your mucous membranes and respect for our environment. The effectiveness of each of our formulas is naturally combined with the sensuality of the product, its naturalness and the comfort that emanates from it.

The "sex planet friendly" invites itself under the duvet as eco sex against all odds without changing the usual beauty of everyday life. What a great challenge! In this energetic, proactive, powerful approach towards a more ethical and ecological transition out of respect for the nature that sustains us, Slow Cosmetics is now the spearhead of YESforLOV: common desire to promote effective cosmetics, natural, healthy, formulated and used in perfect harmony, without cheating, with respect for the health of human beings, with the safeguard of any animal whatsoever, with respect for an environment that is today in danger because it has remained a dead letter up to now but which we now need to better protect.

For several years now, we have been favoring the least processed natural and organic ingredients , excluding as much as possible any ingredient derived from chemicals, petrochemicals, as well as any ingredient that potentially pollutes the environment, and even silicone, which we are unconditionally fans of but which we let's try to separate… It's still premature to this day but our lab technicians now have it in their sights to better abandon it.

Christian Palix, the founder of YESforLOV , is fully convinced of this: the cosmetics of tomorrow's pleasure must strive to reduce the negative ecological impact as much as possible through its carbon footprint, both in its design and in its use. It is an absolute necessity. Priority therefore to short cycles by producing in France with cardboard makers, contract manufacturers and purebred laboratories.

Valérie, our commercial director, invites you to be cautious and vigilant in your choices, most of your legitimate purchase desires having to go to information, to the certain quality of the products offered, to their fair price taking into account of their true composition.

As for Benoît, our product manager, he recommends that you rule out automatically, when reading the labels, both inert, inactive or unnecessarily processed ingredients, but just as much the chemical components likely to seriously harm the health of your mucous membranes. The sincerity of the product in everything last offers is its obsession: its personal challenge is to live up to your desires to live better and in accordance with nature.

Climate commitment and maximum transparency in our product range, that's our roadmap!

A transition to a more “eco-sex” and “natural sex” approach is the formidable mission that we have imposed on ourselves over the long term with boundless energy and enthusiasm that we want to share with you all. . We are resolutely optimistic about the full success of this new project of “more eco-friendly living and living more together in the most total sincerity”. It's a real challenge, it's within our reach and our new range of organic and natural cosmetics is the best example: healthy, comfortable, sensual products that don't cheat. All are the reflection of a French know-how that is no longer to be demonstrated, packaged in non-cellophane kraft cases and printed with vegetable inks, fitted with recyclable bio-source tubes, conveying lab formulas still as wonderfully French from organic farming with more than ever the label of made in France.

YESforLOV promises a bright future for sensual, ethical and organic cosmetics. Follow her approach carefully, she deserves it! Accompany her in her new adventure which aims to be beauty and well-being in all that is most authentic.
